Kool & The Gang – As One (1982 / De-Lite Records / PRC Compton Pressing / LP)

Kool & The Gang – As One (1982 / De-Lite Records / PRC Compton Pressing / LP)

A factory-sealed Mint original pressing of Kool & The Gang's 1982 album — a De-Lite Records PRC Compton plant LP, no cutouts, original hype sticker, pristine and unplayed.

By 1982, Kool & The Gang had completed one of the most successful commercial pivots in funk and soul history — the arrival of vocalist James JT Taylor in 1979 transforming a hard funk instrumental group into one of the most consistent chart presences of the early 1980s. As One is the album that sustained that run at full momentum: "Get Down on It" (#10 Billboard Hot 100), "Take My Heart (You Can Have It If You Want It)" (#17), and "Big Fun" are the singles that defined the record's commercial impact, each combining the band's deep funk roots with a pop accessibility that crossed genre boundaries without abandoning what made them essential. This original De-Lite Records pressing carries the PRC Compton plant designation — the Compton, CA pressing facility whose stamped pressings are specifically documented by collectors of funk, soul, and R&B titles on De-Lite and related labels. No cutouts and the original hype sticker intact round out a copy that presents exactly as it left the plant. Sealed Mint originals of As One in this condition are not common finds.
