Released in 1983 on RCA, The Closer You Get... arrived at the height of Alabama's commercial dominance — the band had won the CMA Award for Entertainer of the Year three years running, and this album delivered more of the warm, radio-ready country rock that made them the biggest act in the genre. Close Enough to Perfect and the title track kept them firmly at the top of the charts, and the album remains one of the most polished and enjoyable entries in their catalog. This Indianapolis pressing with custom labels is a well-preserved original with great sonic presence.
