Emerson, Lake & Palmer – Nutrocker / The Great Gates of Kiev (1972 / Cotillion / 7" Single / Plastic Products Pressing / Original Sleeve)

Emerson, Lake & Palmer – Nutrocker / The Great Gates of Kiev (1972 / Cotillion / 7" Single / Plastic Products Pressing / Original Sleeve)

A 1972 Cotillion 7" single of ELP's "Nutrocker" backed with "The Great Gates of Kiev" — the standard commercial release on a Plastic Products pressing, in its original Cotillion sleeve. Media grades Very Good Plus (VG+). Sleeve grades Very Good Plus (VG+).

The commercial retail release of "Nutrocker" — featuring "The Great Gates of Kiev" on the B-side, ELP's adaptation of Mussorgsky's concluding movement from Pictures at an Exhibition — on a Plastic Products pressing of the original Cotillion 45. Both tracks are drawn from the Pictures at an Exhibition concert recording, giving this single a cohesion that goes beyond a typical A-side/B-side pairing. The Plastic Products plant designation distinguishes this pressing from the SP Specialty Pressing promo and test press variants of the same catalog number, making it a distinct and documented variant for collectors completing the full pressing picture on this release. VG+ media and sleeve in the original Cotillion sleeve for a 54-year-old 45 is exactly what clean and well-stored means — plays nicely, presents well, and represents one of the most accessible entry points into original ELP Cotillion 45 collecting.
