David Bowie Narrates Prokofiev – Peter And The Wolf (1978 / RCA Red Seal / Green Transparent Vinyl / Promo / Indianapolis Press)

A Near Mint Green Transparent vinyl promo pressing of one of the most unusual and celebrated records in David Bowie's entire catalog — his 1978 narration of Prokofiev's Peter and the Wolf, conducted by Eugene Ormandy with The Philadelphia Orchestra, on RCA Red Seal. The vinyl looks and plays in excellent shape; the sleeve is a solid VG+ with some honest edge wear consistent with its promo origins and age.

Released in 1978, this album earned Bowie a Grammy Award for Best Recording for Children — a reminder of the breadth of his artistic ambition at a time when most rock artists wouldn't have gone near a classical narration project. Paired on the flip with Britten's Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra, also performed by Ormandy and The Philadelphia Orchestra, it is a genuinely extraordinary artifact: Bowie's unmistakable voice guiding listeners through two of the classical repertoire's most beloved orchestral works. This is a promo pressing on Green Transparent vinyl from the Indianapolis press — a limited edition variant that is considerably scarcer than the standard black pressing and highly sought after by Bowie collectors and classical collectors alike. All condition details are fully disclosed.
